Welcome to the website of the International Federation for Research in Women's History/Fédération Internationale Pour La Recherche En Histoire Des Femmes. The Federation aims to encourage and promote research in all aspects of women's and gender history at the international level. It organises regular conferences and publishes a biannual newsletter. The Federation is an affiliated organisation of the International Committee of Historical Sciences. National Committees serve as liaison between communities of researchers and the Federation.  Here you will find news about the Federation's conferences, the contact details for the national committees and other information about the activities of the Federation.  The Federation also issues a biannual newsletter which can be downloaded from this site. 

The Centenary of International Women's Day
This year we celebrate the centenary of International Women's Day, first proposed by German socialist Clara Zetkin at a meeting of the Socialist International in Copenhagen in 1910, marked for the first time in Europe on March 19th 1911, and now celebrated around the world on 8 March to honour women's historical and contemporary struggles for equality, justice, peace and development.
