The Centenary of International Women's
Day This year we celebrate the centenary of International Women's Day, first proposed by German socialist
Clara Zetkin at a meeting of the Socialist International in Copenhagen in 1910, marked for the first time in Europe on March
19th 1911, and now celebrated around the world on 8 March to honour women's historical and contemporary struggles for
equality, justice, peace and development. See http://www.internationalwomensday.com/ for events around the world to celebrate the centenary.
